Lauren Dawson | Visual Artist | Northern Ireland

Panel 1

Biography

Lauren Dawson is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Northern Ireland, with an environmental focus.

Lauren graduated with a BA Hons in Fine and Applied Art from the University of Ulster Belfast in 2008, and a Masters in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies in 2010, specialising in art curating.

Lauren Dawson is a multidisciplinary visual artist specialising in printmaking, while also working in painting, photography, drawing, and sculpture.

Her practice is guided by the atmospheres of nature and climate – fragile thresholds where calm tips into turbulence, and moments of stillness hold a charged weight of anticipation. These ideas underpin Lauren’s current body of work, Transience.

Lauren held her first solo exhibition, Permian, at Haptik Gallery, Newtownards (2018), and has since exhibited at For Earth’s Sake, In-Spire Gallery, Dublin (2019), with her work selected for award support from SSE Airtricity, and later presented with Patagonia Dublin as part of Dublin Culture Night, for the Global Climate Strike. Other exhibitions include ForM Sculpture Exhibition (2017, 2019, 2021), Black Canvas Gallery, Belfast Print Workshop, and the Royal Ulster Academy.

Alongside her practice, Lauren currently works full-time professionally in the arts sector, with a passion for curating, for the past 14 years.

She holds professional membership with Visual Artists Ireland [NI], and is a member of the Visual Artists Association.
